A third country national with a long-term residence in another Member State can apply for this type of residence if he/she:
a) Runs a business in Slovakia;
b) Is employed in Slovakia;
c) Studies at a school in Slovakia;
d) Performs research and development or a special activity in Slovakia (lecturing, artistic, volunteering or sports activity; internship within studies outside Slovakia; activity resulting from Slovak Government or EU programs; fulfilling a commitment arising from an international treaty; provision of health care or accompanying of a foreign national who is being provided health care, if necessary; activity of a journalist accredited in Slovakia);
e) Is a family member of an applicant according to points a) to d) and the family had already existed in the Member State which granted a long term residence to the applicant.
The desicion takes 90 days from the submitting a complete application.
The application must be submitted in person on the official form and in the Slovak language.
▪ if running a business – a business plan, a business plan for the implementation of an innovative project, or a document confirming
the authorization to do business;
▪ if being employed – an employment contract or a written promise of employment;
▪ if studying – confirmation on admission for studies from a state administration authority, school or an accredited institution;
▪ if performing research and development or a special activity – a hosting agreement, confirmation from a school or an educational institution on the lecturing activity, confirmation from a state administration authority or an art agency, confirmation from a state administration authority or a sports organization, confirmation of internship, confirmation from a state administration authority or an organisation administering programs of the Slovak Government or EU programs, an international treaty, confirmation from a health care facility on the provision of health care or a document on the necessity of accompanying, agreement with the hosting organization responsible for the volunteering service program together with the confirmation on financial and material coverage of the applicant, confirmation from a state administration authority on the performance of journalistic activities or a document on accreditation of a journalist active in Slovakia;
▪ if being a family member of an applicant under points a) to d) whose family has already existed in another Member State which granted the applicant a long-term residence – registry document and a document confirming joint residence in a Member State (e.g.residence document from a Member State) →
▪ Applicant´s notarized affidavit on the ownership of a property; or
▪ Notarized tenancy agreement (in which the applicant is indicated as the tenant/one of the tenants; signatures of both the landlord and
the tenant must be notarized); or
▪ Notarized affidavit of the property owner on the provision of accommodation (signatures of all property owners must be notarized); or
▪ Confirmation from an accommodation facility (hotel, dormitory) on the provision of accommodation.
